Disposal of old electrical appliances
Electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE – Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) contains both valuable raw materials that can be recovered through recycling and hazardous substances that may cause environmental issues if not properly treated. Therefore, consumers are legally required to dispose of discarded electrical appliances separately and in the correct manner.
More information on the correct sorting and disposal of electrical waste can be found at recupel.be.
All electrical and electronic equipment placed on the European market must carry the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin. This symbol indicates that, at the end of its life cycle, the appliance must be disposed of separately from unsorted household waste.
How can I return my old electrical appliance?
If you purchase a new electrical or electronic appliance, you can have your old device responsibly collected via the Recupel system. In accordance with legal collection and recycling regulations, old appliances can be returned through Recupel collection points.
The Recupel website provides a complete overview of all collection points. Based on your place of residence, you can easily find the nearest collection point and see which locations are available in your area.
Important notes:
Batteries and accumulators: If possible, remove batteries and rechargeable batteries from the device and dispose of them separately at a designated collection point.
Light sources (lamps): If possible, remove light bulbs without damaging them and dispose of them at a designated collection point.
